Christmas Cookies!

Today, we went over to Grandma's house to make some Christmas cookies!  Daryl and Dad were spending the morning (and part of the afternoon!) painting our basement so we headed over to Grandma's house for some fun of our own.  My Mom ordered artificial dye-free sprinkles and food coloring so that we could still make cookies this year.  Samuel loved cutting out the cookies - his favorite part was arranging the cookie cutters on the dough and trying to get as many cookies out of   the dough as he could.  I'm not surprised!  He and Hope both lost interest after frosting a couple of cookies.  Aliyah helped Mom and me decorate all of the cookies!  She was such a good little helper. She got down to play for a few minutes when the other kids did, but she quickly came back and wanted to help again.  She put a lot of thought into it - faces on snowmen, white chocolate chips on  the white frosting of red/white striped candy canes, a "star" (chocolate chip) on top of a Christmas tree, etc.  It was fun to see her little brain at work!  Hope was very distracted today and not focused enough to spend time decorating.  On another day I think she would have really enjoyed it.  They all still had a great time and now we have a lot of delicious Christmas cookies to eat!!  (And the bonus was: Daryl and Dad were able to paint the whole basement without any interruptions from three sweet little kids!!)

  1. That's how Simon is too...depends on the day. Really, really ON some days, really, really off other days. Isn't it weird?
